Ich habe einen Artikel über die Veränderung des Lizenzmodells von RTC in Version 2.0.0.1 geschrieben, der heute bei Heise Online erschienen ist. Der Aufhänger ist die gute Nachricht, dass es jetzt in der Express-C Edition 10 kostenlose Entwickler-Lizenzen gibt. Damit kann man wirklich produktiv arbeiten. Ich habe aber auch nicht mit Kritk an den verbleibenden Pain Points gespart. Unter der Überschrift "Vertracktes Lizenzmodell" geht die gute Nachricht leider etwas unter.
Seit ein paar Tagen ist RTC 2.0.0.1 draußen und ich wollte meinen Augen erst nicht trauen, als ich gesehen habe, dass jetzt bei Express-C ZEHN Entwicklerlizenzen dabei sind. Früher waren es drei, was völlig unbrauchbar war. Ich freue mich sehr, dass IBM bei der Lizensierung Bewegung zeigt.

EclipseCon: The next version is on the horizon
Hot topics at EclipseCon 2009 were the Eclipse Runtime, Cloud Computing and the next version of Eclipse, e4. The conference showed signs of the financial crisis though.
Babel is the Eclipse translation project. But there is lot more going on in the translation area, in Japan at the Eclipse Japan WG and at FOLT here in Germany. The interesting thing about this is that it's all open-source, and all EPL - a huge potential for mutual benefits.
